Addiction

I have a confession, I may need to attend some type of anonymous group, maybe even a rehab center...

I AM ADDICTED TO CARROTS AND HUMMUS.

Seriously yal I have always enjoyed hummus but recently carrots and hummus are just my thing, my craving. Carrot sticks are carrot batons here in London and hummus is spelled houmous.

I may have eaten a bag of carrots in a day...or did I?!

Yal have a great weekend. Do something spontaneous and fun and out of the norm. We are planning to go to a beach tomorrow by train.

Cheers, Nelly

Lessons of London...Part Two

Each day there is something else that I learn to adapt to here in London...

(You can read my first Lessons of London here)

- Grocery shopping is still an adventure; zucchini is called courgettes, eggplant is aubergine...

- One day we wanted a little sweet snack and I was confused what a digestive cookie was and then found this adorable and smart sleeve of Oreos...why don't they package Oreos like this in the states?? It would really help with eating half a pack and a half gallon of milk in one sitting! Not saying I've ever done that...or am I?!

- Fashion is CRAY CRAY!! I feel as if I am back in the 1980's. I was wearing onsies in the 80's but these kids truly went back to their roots. And if you are wearing a sheer shirt or skirt or dress apparently you must wear dark undergarments or hey none at all.

- Number one rule of London is to never leave the flat without an umbrella. It may be sun shiny bright but it still will rain on ya.

- There is a newspaper that is handed out at the tube stations, The Evening Standard. I always grab one and read what is going on around us and while reading some of the articles I come across the interesting spelling of words and how they differ...where we would use a 'z' they tend to use the letter 's'...i.e.  realise vs realize. Also, throwing trash away is called 'bin it'. It is a trash bin not a trash can.

I'm sure I will learn more today, so yal come back next week for another lesson, ya hear...

Flowers of Hyde Park

I share a backyard with the Royals...one day I am sure we will have a cookout together, play catch, maybe William will teach me how to play polo, and Kate can give me a hair tutorial... I kid. I kid.

But seriously Hyde Park is literally about 3 blocks away from our flat and is the backyard of Kensington Palace. I frequent the massive park for exercise, ride bikes, or just stroll and look at the gorgeous flowers.

To the Left, To the Left...

Everything in London is done to the left...

They drive on the left hand side, they walk on the sidewalk same as they drive (I mean I know we do this in the States, but still it is to the left), the doorknobs turn to the left, you unlock the door to the left, if the water swirled in the toilet I bet it would swirl to the left.

Sweet Friends...Sweet Treats and all the little things

One of my friends gave me a bag of dark chocolate and berry granola. I normally wouldn't have bought granola but this sounded too yummy to pass....and oh how I was right!!!

Woke up my first morning in London and walked to the corner to a most convenient store ever and grabbed a small jug of milk. And when I say small I mean cute little jug.

See? Ain't that adorable! And it went perfectly with my granola...

Love crunch indeed folks!!

I have been exploring the tv channels while sitting on the little love seat and lo and behold I won't be able to escape America or the kardashians! That's right, a little E! Network on the tele.

Off to jalk (that's jog and walk for any that don't know) in Hyde Park which is perfectly located near the flat and the backyard to Kensington Palace where a sweet little bundle of joy will soon call home. Not mine people, calm down. But William and Kate. Swear I need to be their nanny ... But when I googled how to become a nanny in London...there's a university you have to go to...so once again I'll just try and win the royals with my southern charm.

Next stop is Ibiza...

I am cursed

It seems to never fail when I fly something goes wrong that delays departure. Today is the big day of the trip across the pond. I'm excited for what's ahead of me and the Mr and also a little nervous to see how this southerner will acclimate. I'm confident I'll make new friends and make people want to visit the states...cause I'm just that charming. Ha! But at least we got to chill in the business lounge....
